Help!

We have made The Yak Shack Trading Card Price Guide as easy as possible to use. There may still be a few bugs to be ironed out but I hope not too many! If however you do have a problem, whether it's to do with the site being broken or you just plain don't understand it, please let me know via the Contact page.

Cheers,

Currency Issues

Q. The currency is only in dollars but the auction I want to enter is in another currency. Help!

A. Don't worry! This is to avoid any crazy complications involving currency conversions. As we know conversion rates fluctuate the whole time and so it would be difficult to build up accurate statistics with ever changing currency. The average price of a few cards could go up and down and that wouldn't make much sense. We chose US Dollars as the base currency because it is simply the easiest for everyone.

To get your auction's End Price in dollars, please just use the Ebay.com site, instead of any of the other international EBay sites (such as .co.uk and .de). For example if you are looking at the auction on EBay.co.uk, simply go to the address bar of your browser and change the address from ebay.co.uk to ebay.com (leaving everything afterwards alone). It should display the auction price in US$ as well as UK!

Auction Issues

Q. Auction for multiple items seem to be a bit tricky. What do I do if I want to put in a price for one of those, or a Dutch auction for that matter?

A. Good question! Thanks for asking. Now if you...

Q. Hold on! Also what do you do if there is an auction for, say, two or three cards all in one go?

A. Well that is easier. You can't do that. There is no way to break the price apart for each card so unfortunately you can't really include that auction in the database. It would probably throw off the averages if you could because people tend to want a deal if they buy more than one of something.

As for the first thing - multiple items and Dutch auctions - you have to do a bit of work for those. Each auction could prove complicated: What number do you use, that sort of thing. This is a general rule: Calculate the average price a card sold at in that auction. So if all the cards went at the same price you just use that price. If on a Dutch auction all the cards sold but at a different price each then calculate the average and stick that price in. See?

Q. I'm confused

A. Me too. But if you're still not sure what to do just contact us.. we'll fry our brains so that you don't have to ;)

Site Issues

Q. Hey! I entered details for an auction and it made not a jot of difference. What gives? Is your stupid site broken?

A. No it's not. Now I'm sure you are a very thorough person and never make silly mistakes, but some folk are - shall we say - less than perfect. I'm not making any judgements, I'm just as bad - trust me! But this site is designed to give accurate information to the W-H-O-L-E W-O-R-L-D! (Imagine that for a second). So if some miscreant comes and enters some stupid data that our software can't stop because it looks too much like real data, or someone simply mis-types some info we don't want it messing up the site for everyone else. So you see, it's nothing personal, we just like to make sure.

Q. Man, what's with that long list of cards when you submit an auction, eh? There are so many of the things there I think I might go blind.

A. Yeah it's quite long and it's only going to get longer. Fortunately you can save yourself the bother of searching for the card the hard way by going straight from the card. Browse to the card you want through the View Sets or View Cards options and then when you find your card click 'Submit Auction' at the bottom of the page. See now it's already been selected for you. Not bad eh?
