The Sorcerer's Stone Set has landed.... and a great competition open to all members
Posted on 24/05/2005 at 08:49:44 by RozAfter the highly anticipated Prisoner of Azkaban update set which although overprinted came packed with some astonishingly good props and some autographs that are unlikely to ever be bettered, many of the fans wondered where Artbox could take this license next.
Well the chips are down, a good twenty cases on the forum have been opened and people outside America are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their boxes and cases because this set has turned out to be very exciting. All pack inserted props are numbered out of between 100 and 842 and highlights include a piece of Devil's Snare, pieces of the letters sent to Harry inviting him to Hogwarts, and even a small piece of the Sorcerer's Stone itself.
Artbox have cleverly avoided any Harry, Hermione or Ron Robe cards in this set which keeps this set fresh and gives robes a rest until the next set since previous sets have included rather a lot of similar cards, however there is plenty of Harry Memorabilia to be had - Harry's Quidditch Sweaters and even his pajamas are included in this set!!!
Autographs include the legendary John Hurt, Leslie Phillips and John Cleese so all in all it's looking to be a good set.
Check out the full run down on this set in the Sorcerer's Stone Trading Card Price Guide
Lasty, we are very proud to be able to bring you the chance to win an exclusive New York Toy Fair Costume card, if you have checked out the price guide then you will know that this is the rarest costume in the set, and we have one to give away thanks to the generosity of TomUnique.
Simply click here to enter, you will need to have signed up to the forum to enter, but that also allows you to view the price guide properly so that's 2 great things for one sign-up!
Price Guide Database Now Based On More Than 5,000 Auctions, And 9 New Sets Added!
Posted on 16/04/2005 at 17:14:34 by RozIt's been a long time since I last wrote in this trading card price guide blog; we now have twelve different card sets available in The Yak Shack Trading Card Price Guide (all the LOTR sets, LOST, All the Harry Potter sets, Spike the complete story). It is rapidly becoming an indispensable online resource for trading card prices.
Everyone here at the Yak Shack is getting excited about the New Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone set, despite initial concerns for the popularity of the set (since it's not going to be stamped "The Philosopher's Stone" as it is known worldwide and throughout history) Artbox have allayed our fears and announced such amazing sounding prop cards that few of us can resist purchasing a box or two.
If you don't know what to collect whilst waiting for the new Sorcerer's Stone set then some great newly released sets are Rittenhouse's : Stargate SG-1 Series 7 set, and another fine set from Rittenhouse is The Quotable Star Trek: The Next Generation. And lastly the Robots set from Inkworks.
Watch this space for the latest information
Other sets to look forward to over the coming weeks are Inkwork's Family Guy set, in May Artbox's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set and of course Inkworks' X-Files Connections set.
Happy collecting everybody.
Have your say! Tell Artbox how you feel!
Posted on 07/03/2005 at 16:21:02 by RozHi everyone
A lot of people are a tad fed up with Artbox after the PoAU set - it's a beautiful set - no one denies that but we were rather upset with the collation of the cases (not yielding the number of props and autographs advertised). Other people had other gripes, so we've started a petition - you can sign and make comments on the set so that Artbox can hear your voice. Interested?

P.S. The price guide database is now calculated based on over 4,000 auctions!!!
And so it begins!
Posted on 15/01/2005 at 14:21:24 by RozAfter extensive Price Guide "trials" with the Harry Potter sets, and a fair few "tweaks" of the site, we think it's ready to have other sets added.
The first non Harry Potter set to be added was Trilogy, this has been very successful so the addition of the Fellowship of the Ring set was not far behind, over the next few months all the Topps LOTR sets will be added.
The next step for the price guide following the introduction of LOTR will be our first coverage of an Inkworks set - this is likely to be the Spike (complete story) set. If you are interested in getting involved in this, or just want to show your support for the idea of covering Buffy/Angel sets please do email us.
If you have any suggestions for the improvement of the Yak Shack Trading Card Price Guide website please contact Mark.
If you have any suggestions about the content of the site (new trading card sets to cover, or any information on sets already covered that isn't already covered by the price guide) then please contact Roz.
That just leaves time to say a very big thank you to everyone who helped this price guide get started in 2004 and I desperately hope that you will continue your support in 2005!
Happy New Year
