Good news and bad news. The progress of the new site is slow (that's the bad news) but it IS progressing (good news). Hopefully it will have come on in leaps and bounds by the next time I'm writing to you (because I will only have a few days left of my holiday by then, assuming I stick to my quasi-weekly updates).
Just purely for the sake of telling you, I took part in an inline half-marathon over the weekend which was very tiring, although very fun. It wasn't exactly a half-marathon, it was see-how-far-you-can-skate-in-45-minutes... I managed about 9 miles although the faster among the group did manage the half-marathon.
Well I'd better get back to it! Until next week...
So long
Posted on 16/07/2004 at 10:41:52 by MakTheYakWell that's it - I finished at my current job. It's a shame to go but it's time to move onwards and upwards! It's been pretty mad the past few days (hence Pirates updating on Friday instead of Wednesday). Here it is!

We all went out for an end of project bash last night and it was a jolly splendid time all round. Bowling and a meal. Can't say fairer than that! Now I have a couple of weeks off and so that means I have time to work on updating this site! Fairly soon, expect to see a new-look Yak Shack with all the bells and whistles that it's been missing all this time. I'll say no more for now - you'll just have to wait and see ;).
Oh, and a quick link to one of my favourite Web Toons - Making Fiends. Amy Winfrey has produced Episode 10 of her excellent series and there's a big cliffhanger! If you're new to the series I'd suggest you start from the first episode...
It's so easy to be difficult over the phone
Posted on 07/07/2004 at 21:18:40 by MakTheYakLet's see what they do when I go in person to sort them out. Sorry, you caught me in mid-rant! Here, have a Pirates! toon and I'll explain:

I'm having to do a lot of ticket swapping. I booked tickets to see Spiderman 2 on the preview night (that's the 15th to all you UK folks. All those in the US have probably already seen it and I'm not at all envious...) but now my current employers want to have a leaving bash on that night (as the project is finishing and everyone is leaving). Now I think VUE are going to be pretty cool about swapping my ticket to the next day.
Cambridge Arts Picturehouse, however isn't so helpful. I booked tickets for the Cambridge Film Festival showing of "The Cat Returns", the new studio Ghibli film (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke etc) which I'm really looking forward to. The only showing during the Festival was at something like 10.15, which means I have to get up a lot earlier than I would normally want to on a weekend. But now they've added an extra evening showing the night before. So I call them up and they just flatly refuse to be even remotely helpful. So as I say, we'll see what happens when I go in there in person tomorrow lunch break!
Right. Rant over. Oh yeah, don't forget to vote! Until next week...
Update: Check this out! It's an amazing piece of artwork - 1.3Mb but totally worth the wait!
Update 2: I went in and swapped the tickets without a fuss. Must have been my intimidating stature, or something...

Thirdly, apologies for the lack of Bob over the weekend, but fear not I was busy making something cool! T-Shirts! That's right, you can now buy a Yak Shack T-Shirt :) They are available is two colours and two designs - one for each colour. Here's the black one:
For more info including pricing, have a look at this thread on the forum. It has pictures of both designs and of them being worn. If you want one, just post in the forum or email me about it. Looking forward to your order :D
Guess who got a new job?
Posted on 22/06/2004 at 23:01:58 by MakTheYakMe! That's who! Just when I thought I was in trouble, I managed to land a job which starts straight after my current contract ends. It'll be Flash bits and bobs and some Java and general internet messiness. Hooray! :oD
Oh.... I know what you're waiting for!
