Late comic, sorry
Posted on 30/09/2004 at 16:10:38 by MakTheYakYes this week's Pirates! is late, sorry about that. I will try and get it up and finished tonight but if it drags on till tomorrow then please accept my apologies in advance.
I've been a busy bunny this week as until Wednesday evening, late, I was in the darkest depths of the Essex Coast wading around in the mud helping Roz out with her field work. It was in fact dismantling all the equipment so that means it was the last trip out there after a years worth of fortnightly drives. That means I have a few extra hours every couple of weeks so no excuses for being behind with the comics (don't worry, I will find other ones).
OK well I think I'd like to try and update the news when there's something interesting happening in the webcomic world, or anything else that interests me for that matter, rather than just when I release a new comic. And to that end I would like to direct you to this link which is to an article on The Register which tells us all about exactly how litigeous our friends in Iceland are! Shocking statistics. Right I'm off to uninstall my copy of Kazaa lite.....
Oh dear Lord there's a shark coming right for me!
Posted on 15/09/2004 at 21:39:29 by MakTheYakYep, I saw 'Open Water' tonight and wasn't overly impressed. I don't know why it got all those prizes and all this critical acclaim... the story was practically non-existant, the characters you just didn't get attached to even if you wanted to and it had a naff ending. It wasn't really all that scary either, we found ourselves laughing in places! Never mind, eh? Let's see what next week brings...
OK well in my last post I promised you a video of the man singing in his dustbin and here it is! Sorry about the quality, it was done on my phone - another reason to buy things that do one thing but do it well!
Very excited as I got Pokémon Leaf Green through the post yesterday and I've been starting off on yet another adventure... for some reason they never grow old! And this time it has a wireless thingy so you can scout about and see how many other people are playing and maybe offer a trade with a random person, or a battle, or just a chat! Anyway, this all leaves me with even less time and so I'm off to do something constructive... or just play Pokémon :p
Unexpected colours
Posted on 10/09/2004 at 09:13:11 by MakTheYakYou may have noticed that this weeks Pirates! is in colour, which is kind of unusual seeing as it isn't a '7th' (Sunday) strip but I thought that the effect would be a lot better if it was coloured. And could it be more set up? I couldn't have planned the storyline / release date of this film any better even if I tried! Which reminds me - I really must get to seeing that film at some point...
My PocketPC came! I'm very pleased with it - you can surf the internet and go on messenger, check email all wirelessly as it has built in WiFi and Bluetooth. But what's more, you can play all the old Lucasarts adventure games on it using ScummVM. It's quite literally the greatest thing ever, purely because of that! The other things just enhance its awesomeness.
Please take note! Underneath the menu on the right is a Cool Links box, for your entertainment. I will be updating that with random stuff I find on the internet that I like and think other people would like too... but it would be more fun if everyone joined in! If you find something you like then just click 'submit a link' and share it with the world! The latest addition is Episode 11 of Making Fiends by Amy Winfrey which is actually a second part to Episode 10. So if you haven't watched that one yet, watch it first!
Oh and yesterday I saw a guy sitting in a bin naked playing guitar. But more on that at a later date...
Inspiration-less title
Posted on 05/09/2004 at 22:30:58 by MakTheYakNew Bob - enjoy! I hope soon I will bring this story arc to a close and maybe come up with some more single strip gags but for now stay tuned to see how Joe and Josh deal with their second encounter with the cops!
Now is the time to get your orders in for T-Shirts if you want them. You can either order them direct from the Goodies Page or you can go and see them and tell me you want one on the Forum. Your choice!
Don't forget you can sign up to get email updates when interesting stuff happens here, like new comics and new news posts. What's more, if you sign up then when you leave comments on things by clicking the comments icon you can see under this news post, half of the fields will fill out for you automatically, saving you the trouble!
Exhasting weekend this weekend - did a lot of gardening and so my drawing hand isn't feeling 100% - hopefully better for Pirates! on Wednesday though! Also set up a new Sony Vaio Laptop which you wouldn't think would need much setting up but came surprisingly un-updated with the latest software and the Firewall was disabled by default! Good thing I knew what I was up to... thousands wouldn't.
Thinking of getting a nice brand spanking new Pocket PC - this one to be precise... Anyway, if anyone has any advice on the matter before I go ahead and buy it, let me know!
The Shack's Back!
Posted on 22/08/2004 at 18:22:47 by MakTheYakWell folks it's been about a month since I updated anything and I have to say I'm sorry I didn't post a news article or anything to let you know what I was up to. That was a bit remiss of me but it won't happen again! Promise!
In case you didn't notice the site has had a major haul over and it bigger and badder than ever (in a good way of course). Here's the deal. You can now create an account and log in. Not only will this give you your own personalised greeting when you visit the site but it will also enable you to enjoy lots of the other new features.
You may have noticed there is a Cool Links section to the right... and guess what? It's interactive! If you find a link you like, please share it with the rest of us! You don't need to have an account or be logged in to add a link but if you are then it will fill in all the details it already knows about you in automatically! In fact, all the forms on this site will fill in information we already have about you automatically saving you both the time and the effort! Now you can't say we never did anything for you!
Of course we've still got the comics, and Pirates! has it's own section now. No more shabby looking pirates in the news articles. The schedule will be back to normal, Pirates on Wednesdays and Bob's Your Uncle on Sundays. But now, if you like a comic, let me and everyone else know!
You will see that under the comics and news posts (and if you browse to Articles and choose one you'll find it there too) there is a little icon with a speech bubble. If you click on it you will be taken to a page where you will find all comments for that particular thing, and a form you can fill in to leave a comment. It's all very snazzy!
I'll be updating the news a bit more regularly than once a week I hope, and so if you don't want to miss anything you can sign up and check the option to receive email updates when I post new news items. In fact, you can get email updates about more than that: You can get comic updates, news updates, general site updates (rare) and also if you want to vote every day but just forget the whole time you can get daily voting reminders too!
Finally, check out the Flash section where I have catalogued all my Flash games and presentations. I will hopefully be adding a lot more to it in between making comics so keep an eye out :D
