Better late than never!
Posted on 28/09/2005 at 23:56:25 by MakTheYakWell sorry this one's a bit late. I've got to say I did pretty well - I don't think I missed an upload date for a good few months now. I have good excuses though!
On Saturday, Roz was back from the Netherlands. Due to my bad planning and general unorganisedness we had to travel into Royston to pick up my suit for the wedding the next day. While we were there we got waylaid by the Boars Head pub and the World Famous Royston Cave. (It may or may not be world famous depending on the accuracy of my previous statement.)
Then of course on Sunday it was Lucian and Indira's wedding to which we were both invited. It was actually kind of a given we were going as I was Best Man and no, don't worry, nothing went wrong! The ring was kept safe and the speech was delivered to what seemed like a very sympathetic (or just plain drunk) audience. All good fun!
Monday night I went go-karting with the company which was good fun although I am still aching, particularly in my upper arms. Now I know why the winner of the F1 Grand Prix needs someone to hold his arm up in celebration!!
Tuesday (yesterday) night's sudden disappearance I can blame fully on Valve software. Their blasted STEAM software popped up in a very hidey-ho kind of way and cheefully informed me that Day of Defeat: Source was now available to play should I feel like it. Of course I did. And I didn't stop playing it until it was way past any reasonable bed-time. Blasted thing!
So here it is, Wednesday night. At least you won't have to wait so long until the next one!
Lastly, anyone who hasn't seen the video promoting the next Nintendo console, the Revolution, should Click Here for an education in innovation.

D'oh! Bank Holiday timekeeping...
Posted on 29/08/2005 at 21:15:03 by MakTheYakSorry for the late strip folks, I was away over the Bank Holiday weekend and internetless. I did manage to get it done while I was away, however, on my new iBook! Oh yes, I've taken the plunge and bought a Mac and I haven't regretted it since I got it out of the box. It's all set up with all the bits I need now and so I'm a fully mobile cartoon drawing, web developing madman! No excuses like "I didn't have my computer with me" now...
Well actually, I suppose I already made one with the whole 'no internet' thing, and I guess drawing would be hard without my graphics tablet. Good well there are still excuses for me to use!
I hope at least some of you downloaded Comic Junkie as it's a great little program and totally rocks my socks. You don't even have to be a webcomic fan cos it does all those Newspapery syndicated strips too. Can't complain, huh?
A good friend of mine, Lucian, is getting married in just under a month's time so Congratulations to him and his lovely fianceé Indira. Can't wait! And I hear they've chosen a rather smashing Best Man as well (that'll be me ;) ). Getting a bit worried about speeches and things (I've never really done any public speaking before) but I'm sure it'll be alright on the night.
I haven't asked this for a while, so I don't feel bad about not about doing it: Please don't forget to vote every day for Pirates!! All you have to do is click both the vote buttons under the comic and then press the button on the page after that. Big thank you's to anyone who does and of course even bigger ones to those who already do!
Comic Junkie - the new improved way to read comics on the interweb!
Posted on 08/08/2005 at 21:44:20 by MakTheYakRight guys, here's something I discovered a couple of days ago and I have to say I'm very impressed. It's called Comic Junkie and it's a comic browser / notifier that runs in the background on Windows.
- Set up a list of your favourite comics
- Receive instant updates when they are updated
- Bookmark where you are up to
- Rate comics and see other users ratings
There are loads of comics, including all major syndicated comics like Dilbert, Garfield and Get Fuzzy and lots of big name Web Comics. You can even get Pirates! on it!
If you like comics, I would strongly urge you to try this fab little tool! You can download it and try it for 30 days for nothing. I'm pretty sure you will like it so muc hthat after the 30 days is up you won't think twice about paying the $20 to unlock it for unlimited use. But don't just listen to me, try it for yourself! (Just listen to me I'm sounding like some demeted salesman, but the fact is I really like this product!)
Comic Junkie - Download it now!
Harry Potter and the Very Long Read
Posted on 28/07/2005 at 23:00:09 by MakTheYakWell, it's done. I'm finished reading Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, at last! I thoroughly enjoyed it, I have to say, and especially the bit at the end where..... hehe you didn't really think I'd do that to you did you? I wouldn't want to ruin the ending for those who actually read slower than me (if that's possible).
I have to say that I think it's very well thought out of JK Rowling to release the books over the summer holidays as it means kinds can get on and read the book in peace without the risk of some little brat blurting the ending out to the whole class. You know it will happen, just like when some idiot in the UKput it across the motorway the day after release, or some other dude drove by the queue and shouted the ending. That particular event happened to be videoed and put on the net, and then really cleverly some US radio station played the soundtrack and ruined it for all their listeners! Honestly! Talk about stupid!
Anyway, enough about that. My old boss from my Student days when I was working at a cinema has made a film called Dark Hero which looks like a lot of fun! He's even offered me tickets to the premiere, on the condition that I come dressed as a gangster in a fedora (I think that was it...) which just thickens the plot somewhat! I can't wait!
If you want a laugh, check out the "iFlea" in the links section to the right. Good clean bit of fun poking :)
